I have spent HOURS (no exaggeration) trying to figure out how to do this, and I finally did.

It wouldn't let me call it url=, so I called it url_text=.

Here is how you do it!

BBCode Usage:

Code: Select all

[url_text={URL}]{SIMPLETEXT}[/url_text]
HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<a href="{URL}">{SIMPLETEXT}</a>
Helpline:

Code: Select all

Makes a clickable word
So you guys can add this to your forums.

Good luck!

This is more reliable and follows the official Phpbb BBCode

BBCode Useage

Code: Select all

[urlnew={URL}]{TEXT}[/urlnew]
Html Replacement

Code: Select all

<a class="postlink" href="{URL}" target="_blank">{TEXT}</a>
There is already a url= or link= BBCode which creates a button rather than a text link

I know also my members would be confused by how this code appears on the posting page

Code: Select all

[url_text=][/url_text]
They would be forever putting the text after the = and of course finding it never rendering properly
